At its roots, the word conference means to bring or carry together. That is who we seek to be: not simply a collection of churches, but people bringing our gifts, passions, resources, and hopes together for the sake of something larger than any of us can do alone.

Here you’ll find ways to join in—through volunteer opportunities, shared initiatives, justice ministries, partnerships, and other ways to connect across the Rocky Mountain Conference. Together, we are building a more connected and courageous church, responding faithfully to the needs of our communities and our world.

Right now, the Conference is looking to fill these specific roles:

• Volunteer Conference Disaster Coordinator (CDC): The CDC serves as a primary point of contact and team leader for a Conference Disaster Team (CDT). CDCs act as a liaison among the CDT, the conference and UCC Disaster Ministries. If interested, send a letter of interest addressed to the RMC Board to admin@rmcucc.org
• Conference Ambassador: The Rocky Mountain Conference is more than an office or a staff—it is the relationships among our churches, clergy, and people across Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. That’s why we’re experimenting with a new Conference Ambassador Team for people who love the wider church and would enjoy helping strengthen those connections. Ambassadors will occasionally visit RMC congregations on Sunday mornings to bring greetings from the Conference, share stories about what is happening across our shared ministry, and help tell the story of why our Conference matters and what becomes possible when we are connected to one another. You don’t need to be an expert on everything RMC. We’ll provide training, talking points, stories, and resources so that you can show up ready to represent the Conference with warmth and authenticity. If you enjoy meeting new people, visiting different churches, and helping others experience the larger community of which they are a part, we’d love for you to consider becoming an RMC Conference Ambassador. • COM Task Force: There are three congregations across the RMC that are interested in joining the United Church of Christ, which means they’d also be joining the Rocky Mountain Conference. The Committee on Ministry (COM) is assembling a task force that will commit to helping these congregations through this process. Board and Committees

Members of the RMC Board and various committees are elected each year at the RMC’s annual Business Meeting, which typically occurs in June. If you’re interested in running for an elected position, please contact the Nominating Committee at nominating@rmcucc.org to learn more about the desired position and to add your name to the nominating slate.

Regional & Ecumenical Partners

• Families Not Politics is a grassroots group of parents, coaches, teachers, doctors, nurses and mental health providers, veterans, faith leaders, and community members from across Colorado who are standing up against attacks against all Colorado kids, especially transgender kids. National UCC Initiatives

The Rocky Mountain Conference is one of 36 regional conferences in the United Church of Christ (UCC). The UCC offers resources for members to get involved with a number of initiatives. Here are just a few of them:

• Our Faith, Our Vote: Searching for election resources? Our Faith, Our Vote has tools for voter education, guidelines for church political advocacy, voter registration tools, information about upcoming ballot initatives, and more.
• Open & Affirming Coalition (ONA): Visit the ONA page for resources about becoming an ONA congregation and cultivating radical welcome and radical solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
