Space is still available for joining a pilgrimage to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site and Amache National Historic Site with Salem United Church of Christ.

Colorado soldiers, commanded by a Methodist minister,  murdered 230 Cheyenne and Arapaho elders, women, and children on November 29, 1864, and then mutilated their bodies. Some soldiers took human remains back to Denver as trophies. “We are all heirs to this Colorado history,” says former United Methodist Church Bishop Elaine Stanovsky. Accountability to the past, lament, hope and healing are just some of the touchstones of this pilgrimage.

The pilgrimage is a commitment to ongoing conversations at Salem UCC about the impact of intersections of historic racial injustice and faith, on our world today. Cost is $200.
