Special Meeting Update

Dear Conference,

Following the announcement of the Special Meeting to take place on April 23rd, we, the RMC Board, have received several questions and concerns regarding the process, the timeline and the reason for the Special Meeting so close to the Annual Meeting.

After further reflection, we recognize that in our excitement of imagining a staffing structure that will better serve our mission, and in our sense of urgency to arrive at financial sustainability, we got a bit ahead of ourselves in moving directly to seeking a vote. Not only have we not yet provided enough information or created ample opportunity for your feedback and questions, it is not actually the responsibility of the Conference to create staff positions.

Therefore, we have amended the agenda (which you can view here) for this special meeting. Rather than taking any formal votes, we will instead use this gathering as an opportunity to share what we are learning, give you time to ask questions, and to create space for us as a whole conference to reflect together on the opportunities and needs that are before us.

We still strongly encourage delegates and Authorized Ministers to attend as this will provide important preparation for the Annual Celebration in Provo on June 11-13th.  The information and feedback from this gathering will inform the ongoing development of the 2026-2027 budget that will be presented at the Annual Celebration, and the passing or not passing of the budget is the responsibility of the Conference.   Remember, we ask that you please register for this Special Meeting, which you can do by clicking here.

We appreciate your patience and your graciousness as we seek to be faithful to the work that has been set before us in this time of transition.  We look forward to gathering as a conference on April 23rd and listening together for how the Spirit is calling us to organize ourselves to support and equip a courageous church.

In Covenant,

RMC Board of Directors
