The Repair Cafe is Back!

Got a broken household item? Don’t throw it away! Get it fixed instead at the Helping Hands Repair Cafe at First Plymouth UCC on November 1st from noon to 3 PM!  Our repair coaches can fix small appliances, lamps, small wood projects, sharpen knives and garden tools.  We will have several stations for mending clothing, a station for sewing machine tune-ups and repairs, and a station for bicycle repairs and tune-ups.   To see a full list of items that we can fix, please visit the event page via this link. If you have an item that you’d like our techs to repair, please register your item by filling out this form. The event will be held at First Plymouth UCC located at 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Cherry Hills Village 80113.

Plus, enjoy refreshments and a supervised crafts table for children. Please feel free to print out our flier for the event (accessible via this link) to post at your church or around your community.

First Plymouth, in partnership with the Kirk of Bonnie Brae UCC and Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, hosted a successful Repair Cafe back in April 2025 to celebrate Earth Day.  The purpose is to push back against our “throw it away, buy a new one” consumer culture and to keep items that just need a little fix or a little TLC out of our landfills.  It’s also a way to honor the skills and craft of people who know how to fix things.  You and your items will be paired with repair coaches who will do their best to repair your item, and show you how you might be able to do it yourself in the future.

Our first Repair Cafe caught the attention of the National UCC, and you can read the article published in the national newsletter via this link.

Repair Cafes are hosted in many cities around the country, and many countries around the world.  They are one small way we can reclaim our roles as citizens striving for a sustainable culture and world, and not just “consumers”.   If you have questions you can send an email to HHRC@firstplymouthchurch.org.  Hope to see you there!
