We really hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity and choose the dates below that best suit you. It’s only $40 and you can register/pay below. Hurry! For the integrity of the training, attendance is capped at 25 participants per 6 hour session.
In the United Church of Christ, we strive for extravagant welcoming, solid hospitality, and full inclusivity. We say, “No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey you are welcome here.” And we mean it! Yet, with many different cultures comprising the United States, we haven’t always been at our best when it comes to welcoming people from non-European cultures. Too often, we alienate people because we assume “we’re all Americans,” or “we’re all the same.” But by learning together, we can improve our cultural awareness and increase our ability to be welcoming.
You are invited to Culturally Responsive Ministry Training (CRMT) on Race, a six-hour learning experience designed to give pastors a better understanding of the importance of culture as we strive to better communicate a message of God’s love and acceptance for all. The CRMT on Race provides pastors with the tools to be more culturally responsive not just to new people exploring our churches for the first time, but also to long-standing members who come from various cultural backgrounds. The training concludes by breaking participants into racial affinity groups where white folks learn about the deep impact of microaggressions on our siblings of color, while people of color have the opportunity to check in about their ministry in a predominantly white denomination, and the impact of race/racism on it.
