At Annual Meeting 2016 in Salt Lake City, UCC Parker Hilltop (Parker, CO) was honored for achieving the national UCC’s Accessible 2 All (A2A) designation. At that time, they were only the fourth UCC church in the nation to earn this designation—another one of the four being First Congregational UCC in Boulder.
On Saturday, October 8, UCC Parker Hilltop will take their commitment to accessibility one step further by holding an Accessible to All Workshop. From the workshop’s event page:
The UCC Conference Inclusion Team and UCC Parker Hilltop would like to help encourage other churches to become Accessible to All (A2A). This is a fairly easy process and we have some tips to help your church become an A2A church as well.
Inclusion of everyone, or A2A, means including adults and children with physical and mental disabilities, aging people, etc. We want everyone to be welcome and feel welcome!
On Saturday, we will learn from some special guests, including Dr. Nadyne Guzman and Dr. Kevin Pettit, who are both on the Rocky Mountain UCC Conference Inclusion Team. The workshop will have a panel discussion, some group exercises, and other activities that will help your church find ways to include everyone in your worship, fellowship, educational programming, and in your church’s community life.
On Sunday, you are also invited to attend an “Inclusion Sunday Worship” at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Kevin Pettit will preach at this service.
PLEASE RSVP on the event page, so that we will have an accurate headcount of those attending.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. A love donation will be accepted to help offset costs. Lunch and snacks will be provided. A love donation will be accepted to help offset costs.
