Mountain View United Church is offering Bystander Intervention Training on Tuesday, October 8th, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Bystander Intervention Training gives participants the tools and confidence to intervene, safely and effectively, when they witness harassment of a vulnerable person in a public place.
Bystander Intervention Training is an integral component of the American Friends Service Committee’s Sanctuary Everywhere project, which equips people with skills to increase safety for communities targeted by law enforcement and by hate groups, especially those in Black, immigrant, LGBTQ and Muslim communities. Workshop participants will discuss the goals of and barriers to intervening on behalf of others and will learn and practice the dos and don’ts of intervention.
A light meal will be served at 6:00 pm with the training starting at 6:30. Please RSVP to Pastor Wayne Laws if you will be attending the training.
