Columbine United Church (CUC) is excited to announce that newest addition to its staff; Rev. Dr. Tom Rehling is the new Pastor Emeritus.
Tom and Betsy have attended Columbine for the past fifteen years. Since his retirement as the Conference Minister, Tom has been pouring his energy into the ministry of CUC. He is the head of our Party Team. He’s been leading such events as our annual pig roast and Shrimp Boil. These and other parties have been such a huge success that they’re now annual events at CUC.
Tom’s role changed when, during an interim time, he was tapped to be our minister of care and visitation. He brought to the position much more. He brought his years of experience as a pastor and conference minister. He was able to help steer the congregation through some tenuous water.
With the advent of a new Associate Pastor, Tom wasn’t allowed to just sink back into the rank and file. CUC didn’t want to lose the wisdom that he brought to the table. Assigning him the role of Pastor Emeritus allows Tom to continue to bless the congregation with his leadership. Tom’s responsibility is to weekly meet with the staff, consult with the pastors, periodic visitation, and assist in worship. He regularly speaks to the congregation at meetings providing his insight and vision. CUC is honored to have Tom’s presence in ministry.
