Sisters Helping Sisters “Retools” to Make Face Masks

From Church in the Wildwood UCC

Now that health and government officials are recommending everyone wear facemasks when out in public places, our Sisters Helping Sisters group has shifted from making reusable menstrual supplies to making cloth masks. While they do not have enough materials to make masks for every member of CWW, they would like to help the high-risk members of their church.

If you are a “DIY” (Do It Yourself) person, you make masks at home. There are a lot of home sewing patterns circulating online. Some are simple patterns, while others include a pocket for inserting a coffee filter, or a pipe cleaner along the top to fit it to your nose and cheek. Click on the link below for one set of instructions, from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html.

If you don’t know how to sew, there are videos and instructions circulating that demonstrate how to make face coverings from bandanas and hair ties, tee-shirts and rubber bands, and other household items.
