Introducing the SOS Team

The CWCOM Profile Series

Over the next several weeks, the Conference Wide Committee on Ministry (CWCOM) will share different aspects of our work in an effort to clarify different roles and responsibilities and point towards resources for additional information.  If there are particular topics you would like included in this series, please email Ronda Connaway, Accountability Subcommittee co-chair at acs@rmcucc.org.

A third subcommittee on Conference Wide Committee on Ministry, Supportive Oversight (SOS), supports all RMC Authorized Ministers by providing opportunities for clergy growth and periodic vocational assistance. SOS assists clergy with making changes in their status such as license renewal, transfer of standing, exempt status, and leave of absence. When appropriate, SOS provides situational support consultations designed to help a minister and their congregation assess and make changes in their expectations of one another and the ways in which responsibilities are assigned and carried out. Information about situational support consultations can be found in the UCC Manual on Ministry, pages 115-119. SOS is also involved in times of celebration for covenant services (aka services of Installation) and can be called upon to help in creating new covenants.
