How Pinedale Community UCC’s Summer Lunch Program Continues Amidst Pandemic

by Rev. Carol White

As with everything else pandemic, we have changed our Free Summer Lunch protocol. The leaders have gathered a couple times and discussed how to manage and be safe and provide for our children.
Here is what we are trying so far: We will assist the school district as they continue to distribute
meals through the end of June. Our volunteers will help in the Elementary School Cafeteria on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-11:30. Volunteers will be gloved, masked, and temperature taken. Each church is asked to provide 2 volunteers for each day. (June 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25).

We will return to Free Lunch at the UCC church starting July 1. We will be bagging lunches at 11 in the kitchen and then distributing them under the awning on the same schedule as last year. (12-12:45 T,W,Th) Kids will grab and go!

Kitchen workers will also be gloved, masked, distanced, and temp taken. We will also sanitize daily. Because there won’t be near the prep work, we will not need as many volunteers each day, and we won’t be asking for homemade cookies at this point. Our intention is to continue to provide food security for our community.
