The Church’s Call to Environmental Healing and Justice: a Conference-wide Conversation
Wednesday, September 22, 2021
6:30-7:30 pm via Zoom | Register here.
A Call to all RMC UCC churches involved – or wanting to be involved – in work for healing and justice for God’s Creation!
Clergy and Lay Leaders are invited to be part of this conversation. Here’s what we plan to do in our time together:
- Learn from each other – What are we each doing? What are the barriers, and what are the things that have worked well? What would you like to do that you haven’t done yet?
- Collaborate with each other as we feel the need – how can we join forces in our work? With Zoom technology, we can partner across the state in our efforts and programming.
- Encouragement and support – As Valarie Kaur has told us, “We are not in this labor alone.” Let’s help each other and encourage each other in this work. How might we do that?
The discussion will be moderated by Revs. Allyson and Peter Sawtell, retired UCC clergy and long-time environmental activists. Peter is the former director of Eco-Justice Ministries, and has worked with many of our UCC congregations nationwide, and currently sits on the UCC Council for Climate Justice. Allyson has been a volunteer with Eco-Justice Ministries, chairs the Kairos Call to Action team at Washington Park UCC, Denver (part of a national UCC 10-year emphasis), and has recently launched a website of church worship resources around environmental healing and justice.
