SUMMARY:We're Better Together @Iliff
DESCRIPTION:What does it truly take for all of us to be free? How do we gather across difference to listen\, learn\, and lead with love? \n\n\n\n\nYou’re Invited: “How We All Get Free” – A Pulpit+ Exchange Series\nRegister here! \nJoin us for Iliff’s Pulpit+ Exchange Series\, an inspiring series of in-person and virtual gatherings where clergy\, lay leaders\, activists\, scholars\, ministers\, journalists\, and community organizers come together to wrestle with the most pressing questions of our time. Together\, we’ll explore powerful stories of hope\, healing\, and action—each rooted in a shared vision of justice and liberation. \nWe’re Better Together \nLamont Collins\, Founder and CEO of Roots 101 Museum\, will be bringing 400-year-old shackles and other artifact memorabilia from the museum. Plan for an experiential evening. \nLamont Collins used to love arguing with his teammates about who the best professional athletes were. He often took the side of Black players like Bill Russell in these debates\, and his white friends would sometimes come back days later saying things like\, “I talked to my dad\, and he said Bill Russell’s pretty good.” That’s when Lamont Collins realized\, at just nine or ten years old\, how important it was to tell his story. \nToday\, telling Black stories is exactly what he continues to do as the founder and CEO of Roots 101 African American Museum in downtown Louisville. He named it Roots 101 because\, in higher education\, the first class you take is 101. The museum serves as an educational journey from Africa to America. \nMr. Collins never really planned to start a museum. For decades\, he was simply a collector with an impressive set of artifacts. The first item in that collection came courtesy of his mother\, who worked at the local Armed Forces examination bureau. When a young Cassius Clay\, later known as Muhammad Ali\, showed up at the office\, she obtained an autograph for her son. According to Mr. Collins\, that autograph sparked his passion for collecting\, and he’s been hooked ever since. \nWhat to Expect Each Evening:\n5:00 – 5:45 PM (MST): Light meal and connection \n5:45 PM: Lecture begins\, followed by Q&A and deep discussion \nLocation: In-person at Iliff or online via livestream. Unable to attend in person? Register to receive the livestream link. \nWhy Attend?\nBecause change starts in community. This is a space to be challenged and inspired\, while meeting others who share your passion for faith-rooted justice\, equity\, and collective liberation. \nCome for one evening or all. Stay for the conversation. Leave with new energy\, new insights\, and a renewed sense of purpose. \nRSVP now and take your seat at the table.\nWhether you’re a faith leader\, community builder\, or someone seeking meaningful connection\, this is more than a lecture series—it’s an invitation to be part of a growing network of changemakers committed to building a more just and equitable world.

SUMMARY:Racial Justice for Authorized Ministers -- Foundations
DESCRIPTION:April 21-22nd\, 2026: Racial Justice for Authorized Ministers – Foundations \n\n\nThis workshop is designed for Authorized Ministers who have not had racial justice training within the past 3 years and is recommended to Associations that require racial justice training. \nContent includes: \n\nA broad\, but not comprehensive\, introduction to race as a concept\, racism and its various forms\, and various forms of working toward racial justice. Particular attention is paid to Christian foundations for racism and the history of slavery and colonization in New England.\nParticipants will give attention to understanding themselves racially and unpack the stories their ministry settings tell in terms of race. This workshop utilizes facilitated caucus spaces for white people and people of color to discuss and explore their unique experiences of racialization.\nReflection on how the power Authorized Ministers wield as individuals and with their ministry settings can be utilized for racial justice.\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nUnderstand and articulate four realms of racism\nRecognize the role of Christianity as a foundation and expression of racism\nGain insight into oneself as a racialized person and the racialization of your ministry setting\nIdentify forms of power available within your ministry setting and possibilities for action for racial justice\n\nLearning takes place both as an individual and as a leader within your setting \nThis training includes required pre-work\, both reading and engaging in a response. Earlier offerings of this training included a dense history section in a primarily lecture format. Responding to participant feedback\, we are shifting that material to pre-reading so that we can focus training time on digesting this material and making it relevant to you and your ministry setting. Your attention to the pre-work will affect your and your colleagues’ learning\, so making adequate time for this work is appreciated. You will receive detailed instructions about this assignment about one month prior to the training date. \nThis is an interactive workshop that requires active participation throughout\, including through self-reflection and writing\, small group discussion\, and large group engagement.  Please be sure you are in a setting that allows for this.  Please note\, attendance and participation in the full session is required to receive a certificate. \nRegistration closes on April 16\, 2026 or once all spots have been filled. Cancellations or refunds must be requested before the close of registration. \nThe standard cost of this program is $230. Participants from within the Southern New England Conference UCC pay a discounted rate of $175 made possible through Proportional Giving to Our Church’s Wider Mission\, individual donors\, and other gifts to the Southern New England Conference.  The rate for SNEUCC Members in Discernment is $59.  If you have questions about registration rates or would like to request a scholarship\, please contact Noah Brewer-Wallin (brewer-wallinn@sneucc.org).

SUMMARY:Boundary Awareness Training 3.0: Rural and Small Town Clergy
DESCRIPTION: Thursday\, May 7\, 2026 at 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM ET — REGISTER HERE!\n\nThese trainings are for seasoned clergy who have already taken a 2.0 BAT. Often focused on a specific ministry experience\, participants will practice new skills and workshop case studies with colleagues. We are currently developing this level of classes. \n\n\nRural & Small Town Clergy BAT ~ This explores what is unique (and not) about serving in a rural or small town setting and what particular practices encourage strong and healthy ministry.\n\n\nGood professional boundaries allow ministry and those who do it to thrive with health and wholeness. Through the lens of clergy wellness\, authorized ministers will renew their understanding of and develop skills for maintaining boundaries in an ever-shifting ministry landscape. \n\n\nThe cost for the training is: SNEUCC Clergy – $65.00; all other Clergy – $85.00. \n\n\nIf you have questions regarding the training please contact Deb Holmes at holmesd@sneucc.org or 508-244-4399. All trainings are listed in Eastern Time. \n\n\nClass Details\n\nPlease note that registration closes 7 days before the session so that participants have ample time to do the pre-work\, and classes are capped at 50 participants\n\nOur Boundary Awareness Trainings combine teaching\, skill building\, small group discussion and personal reflection for a dynamic and collaborative experience. All levels of BAT are in alignment with best practices from the UCC\, other denominations and secular professions. Breaks (and lunch when a full day) are included.\n\nWe incorporate clergy wellness in all our trainings. Why? Ministry is rewarding; it can also be stressful and demanding. Recent surveys have shown a significant increase in clergy burnout and desire to leave ministry. Clergy whose personal needs are not met in healthy and appropriate ways tend to blur\, push or violate ministerial boundaries. A survey of clergy done by Rev. Dr. Jerry Streets found that “clergy who engaged in multiple and frequent self-care strategies experienced higher well-being than that clergy who did not engage in multiple and frequent self-care strategies.” We care about our clergy; we want them to be healthy and whole\, for the sake of their ministries and their own belovedness.\n\nPlease check with your Association’s Committee on Ministry to inquire whether these trainings meet their requirement for maintaining UCC ministerial standing. You will receive a certificate of completion after the training; it is your responsibility to share this with your Association. \n\nWhy Clergy Wellness?\n\nMinistry is rewarding; it can also be stressful and demanding. The last few years have only increased that likelihood. Recent surveys have shown a significant increase in clergy burnout and desire to leave ministry. Clergy whose personal needs are not met in healthy and appropriate ways tend to push and violate ministerial boundaries. A survey of clergy done by Rev. Dr. Jerry Streets found that “clergy who engaged in multiple and frequent self-care strategies experienced higher well-being than that clergy who did not engage in multiple and frequent self-care strategies.” We care about our clergy; we want them to be healthy and whole\, for the sake of their ministries and their own belovedness.\n\nWhat Participants Have Said\n\n“The Boundary Training was superb! It was not only highly informative\, but most importantly\, you gave abundant tools for growing into more effective leaders. Learning about the connection between good self-care and maintaining the best of healthy boundaries is clearly at the heart of strong ministry.”\n“This is the best boundary training I have ever attended. It was incredibly helpful to have a focus on mindfulness.”\n“It’s a relief not to sit through the “same old” training.”\n“While I was not happy to hear that I needed to have the training again at this time\, I would report that I understand even better why it is necessary and encourage the church to continue to require it.”\n“The care and modeling by the leaders of the training showing a respect\, dignity\, seriousness\, humanness and professional skill to which we all aspire.”

SUMMARY:Culturally Responsive Ministry Training (CRMT) on Race -- May 2026 Session
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to Culturally Responsive Ministry Training (CRMT) on Race\, a six-hour learning experience designed to give pastors a better understanding of the importance of culture as we strive to better communicate a message of God’s love and acceptance for all. The CRMT on Race provides pastors with the tools to be more culturally responsive not just to new people exploring our churches for the first time\, but also to long-standing members who come from various cultural backgrounds. The training concludes by breaking participants into racial affinity groups where white folks learn about the deep impact of microaggressions on our siblings of color\, while people of color have the opportunity to check in about their ministry in a predominantly white denomination\, and the impact of race/racism on it.  \nThis training will be split between two evenings: Monday\, May 18th at 4-7PM MDT\, and Friday\, May 22nd at 4-7PM MDT. Please click here to register via Zeffy. \nPlease note that these sessions will happen via Zoom. You will be emailed a Zoom link plus additional information the week before your session.
