How might COMs engage conversations that encourage and clarify healthy boundaries for ministers and their ministry settings? How can the Ministerial Code and the Marks for Faithful and Effective Ministers provide guidance in this time of transition? Explore these important questions to develop some practical\, supportive practices COMs can engage and a suggested timeline for engaging them. \nRegister here: \nhttps://ucc.zoom.us/meeting/register/SzBxxSlfQy2OOF6baJ7mtg?inf_contact_key=55169582f5c60636c1edba4266683df6b51161ba063939a3213f94f46454e7e9#/registration

She counseled him to forgive the soldiers who perpetrated the\nmassacre. A dream of his grandma later guided Basil to change the name of a peak in\nthe Black Hills. In 2016\, it was renamed “Black Elk Peak” at the federal level. Basil\nstudies how quantum physics corroborates the wisdom woven throughout the Lakota\nlanguage and other Indigenous languages. Over the last decade\, he has been\nfacilitating truth\, healing\, and forgiveness across historical divides. You can listen to an\ninterview with him on The Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery podcast or read his\nbook Awaken the Sacred: Healing with Traditional Lakota Knowledge\, Quantum\nPhysics\, and the Divine.. \nWHY THIS GATHERING?\nMany Rocky Mountain Conference churches have attended Re-member programs on the\nPine Ridge reservation or participated in service projects on the Rosebud reservation and\nlearned from Lakota peoples. \nMany churches have also been learning about the atrocities of the Sand Creek Massacre in\neastern Colorado\, carried out by Christian-affliated military on Cheyenne and Arapaho\npeoples and have been learning from the Sand Creek Massacre Foundation.\nThese have elicited personal reflection\, insights on power and privilege\, implications of\nbroken treaties\, and spiritual awakenings around the Land and human relationships. \nThe October 24th gathering is an invitation to:\n– Reflect on your experiences\, what you’ve learned\, your wonderings\,\n– Pause to discern personal and communal next steps\,\n– Name our responsibilities as Christian congregations to live into accountable\nrelationships with Indigenous Peoples and within our denomination\,\n– Imagine what might be possible if we collaborate and work together.\nGathering Facilitated by:\n– Bry Brannan – Land Discernment Minister with Juniper Formation\n– Salix Renan – Basket Weaver and Land Stories & Spiritual Care Coach\nIf you or someone from your church is interested in offering a reflection\, please reach out to: bry@juniperformation.org or salix.weaves@gmail.com \nHosted by:\n– Lakewood UCC’s Love Leads Team | loveleads@lakewooducc.com\n– Supported by an RMC UCC In the Mud Grant

SUMMARY:Pathways: A Handbell Workshop @ Church in the Wildwood
DESCRIPTION:PATHWAYS: A HANDBELL WORKSHOP\nSaturday\, October 10 | 9:00 am – 5:30 pm\nChurch in the Wildwood | Green Mountain Falls\, Colorado \n  \nFive years ago\, Church in the Wildwood invited us into the mountains with an idea: what if we created a weekend where handbell musicians could learn\, grow\, make music together\, and experience what this instrument can do? \nThis October\, we’re delighted to return to Green Mountain Falls for our fifth annual Handbell Workshop and Concert in the Wildwood! \n  \nWhether you’ve been ringing for years\, are still getting comfortable behind a bell table\, or are picking up handbells for the very first time\, there’s a pathway for you: \nPath A – Building the Basics\nNew to handbells\, or coming back after some time away? Start here. We’ll build a strong foundation in ringing and damping\, bell changes\, passes\, weaving\, music reading\, and more. \nPath B – Strengthening Your Skills\nAlready comfortable with the basics? Spend the day refining your technique and adding tools to your ringing toolbox\, including motion\, mallets\, weaving and displacement\, and multiple bells in hand. \nPath C – Ringing for the Joy of It\nSometimes the best way to grow is simply to ring! This path is designed for experienced ringers who want to spend the day making music\, reading a variety of repertoire\, and exploring technique as it comes up along the way. \nWhichever path you choose\, our goal is the same: that you leave at the end of the day a more confident\, thoughtful\, and joyful musician than when you arrived. \nWorkshop registration (including a catered lunch) is $50 this year\, thanks to the generous support of the Kirkpatrick Family Fund. \nTo those who have already registered – we thank you! \nIf you’ve been considering joining us\, now is your chance! To allow us to provide individual attention\, space is limited. Registration closes as paths fill. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Installation Service for Rev. Dr. Eric C. Smith and Rev. Amy Grace Marie
DESCRIPTION:Installation Service for Rev. Dr. Eric C. Smith and Rev. Amy Grace Marie\n\n\n\n\nCelebrating New Ministry Leadership at First Plymouth Congregational Church \nService of Installation for Rev. Dr. Eric C. Smith and Rev. Amy Grace Marie \nSeptember 20 at 2:00 PM\, First Plymouth Congregational Church\, Cherry Hills Village\, CO \nFirst Plymouth Congregational Church invites the community to a joyous celebration as we install\nRev. Dr. Eric C. Smith as our Senior Minister and Rev. Amy Grace Marie as our Associate Minister. The Installation Service will take place on Sunday\, September 20\, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary\, followed by a cake reception in Plymouth Hall. We invite the Rocky Mountain conference – clergy and laity alike – to join us for this celebration. \nThis is a milestone moment in the life of our congregation. Rev. Dr. Eric C. Smith has served First\nPlymouth for nearly 20 years as a beloved teaching minister\, and his installation as Senior Minister\nmarks not a beginning but a continuation\, a recognition of the deep trust and long relationship he\nhas already built with this church family. His steady preaching\, thoughtful teaching\, and faithful\npresence have shaped our community in countless ways\, and we are overjoyed to formally call him\nto lead us in this new chapter. \nAlongside him\, we celebrate the installation of Rev. Amy Grace Marie\, who joins us as our newly\nhired Associate Minister. Amy brings fresh energy and a deep pastoral heart to this role\, and her calling to walk alongside our families\, care for our members in times of need\, and nurture the spiritual life of our congregation is a gift we are eager to receive. Together\, Eric and Amy represent both the continuity and the renewal that mark a healthy\, growing church. \nThe service will be led by Rocky Mountain Conference (UCC) Transitional Conference Minister Rev. Erin Gilmore\, who will guide the congregation through this sacred rite of installation. The afternoon will include uplifting music\, a sermon reflecting on the call to ministry\, and the charge and blessing\, the moment when Revs. Eric and Amy Grace are formally commissioned into their new roles and the congregation reaffirms its commitment to walk alongside them in faith. \nInstallation services are one of the most meaningful traditions in congregational life. They are not\nsimply ceremonial; they are a covenant moment\, when a church community gathers to say\,\ntogether\, “We see you\, we trust you\, and we commit to this ministry alongside you.” For a church\nlike First Plymouth\, rooted in shared leadership and mutual care\, this service is a chance to give\nthanks for the ministers who guide us and to recommit ourselves to the work we do together. \nFollowing the service\, all are invited to stay for a cake reception and to welcome Rev. Eric and Rev.\nAmy Grace personally into their new roles. \nWhether you have walked with First Plymouth for decades or are just beginning to explore this\ncommunity\, you are warmly invited to join us on September 20 as we celebrate this exciting new\nseason of ministry.

SUMMARY:Application Deadline for Youth Leadership Cohort
DESCRIPTION:The application for the Youth Leadership Cohort is now open! Apply here by September 15th\, 2026 \n  \nWHO: High school youth who are engaged in their local UCC church and desire to gain leadership skills that will impact their church context. Youth\, do you have ideas about what your generation (Gen Z/Gen Alpha) might want to see from their church? Leaders\, do you have a youth who is an incredible leader of your youth group or of your church context? If you answered yes\, then you have what we are looking for! \nWHAT: We want to build a cohort of young leaders across the conference to support one another as they offer leadership to their local churches and to the wider Rocky Mountain Conference. Each youth will be asked to identify a project they want  to take on that will help their church\, and our cohort will be guided through creating a project plan\, implementing their project\, and assessing that project through the course of the 2026-2027 program year. This cohort will culminate in a presentation during our RMC Annual Celebration in 2027. Here are some ideas of what your project may look like: \n\nWorship: You have creative ideas about music or liturgy. You want to create a whole worship service to show your church what kind of worship engages your generation.\nCommunications & outreach: Your church website or social media needs some updating\, and you know how to create an authentic representation of your church in digital contexts.\nJustice-work: You have a passion for a particular need in the community and want to connect your church with community partners to address it.\nCommunity-building: You have ideas about how to build belonging in your context. You want to help your church step up their hospitality game.\n\nWHY: We believe our youth are both the future of our church and key members and leaders currently in our midst. From research on adolescent religiosity\, we know that youth who are engaged in church leadership go on to be adults engaged in church and activism. We also know that churches with active youth leadership tend to be flourishing and vital congregations. Empowering youth empowers everyone!  \nWHEN: The following events are required. Please see the timeline below: \nRECURRING: Monthly check-ins and progress reports. Dates & times will be established during our Zoom Orientation. \nApplications will close on September 15\, 2026. Apply here! \nSelected youth will move on to schedule an intake interview. \nFinal selections will be made by September 30\, 2026. \nNovember 15\, 2026: Zoom Orientation from 2 to 5 PM. \nJan 15-16\, 2027: Leadership retreat at La Foret Conference & Retreat Center. \nJUNE/JULY DATE TBD: Rocky Mountain Conference Annual Celebration at La Foret
