While the heart of the camp remains exactly the same—led by First Plymouth’s trusted leadership and rooted in decades of meaningful tradition—there is now space for new relationships to form across communities. \nIf you’ve never experienced Community Camp before\, imagine a few days where the pace softens and something deeper has room to emerge. Days are filled with simple joys: shared meals\, time outdoors\, creative activities\, conversations that matter\, and the kind of laughter that comes easily when people feel at home. Whether you come as a family\, with friends\, or on your own\, there is a place for you here. \nThis is not a camp you have to “perform” at. DESCRIPTION:More than a dozen churches of the Metropolitan Denver Association will gather for a collective worship service on Sunday\, July 26th at 10:00 a.m. and will be hosted by First Plymouth Church UCC in Englewood. \nOur speaker will be the Rev. Darrell L. Goodwin\, who serves as the Executive Conference Minister of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ\, leading over 600 churches across Massachusetts\, Connecticut\, and Rhode Island. Before his current role\, he was the founding pastor of Liberation UCC in Seattle\, WA. and he served the Iowa\, Nebraska\, and South Dakota Conferences as Associate Conference Minister. He is the creator and former Program Director of the Pension Boards’ Faith and Personal Finance Initiative. Rev. Goodwin currently serves on various local and national boards including but not limited to; the UCC Council for Health and Human Service Ministries\, Cornerstone Fund\, Leadership Greater Hartford\, and Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Every Monday through Friday people are released from the immigrant detention center in Aurora\, CO. Upon their release\, they are met by the Casa de Paz team with a warm welcome; a hot meal; a safe\, temporary space where they can connect with their loved ones and make travel arrangements to their final destination; telephone\, computer\, and WIFI access; clothing and backpacks; personal hygiene products; and transportation to the airport or bus station. Since its founding in 2012\, Casa de Paz has hosted over 20\,000 guests from over 82 countries. \nCasa volunteers also visit men\, women\, and trans individuals in immigrant detention who may not have a loved one nearby. And volunteers write Cartas de Paz\, letters offering hope to people in immigrant detention who often feel alone and forgotten.

We are rolling out FreeWill to the western conferences of the UCC\, and we hope you can join us and learn more about the platform and best practices for sharing it with your local community/congregation. \nIn 2024\, the Pension Boards-UCC (PBUCC) partnered with the UCC’s National Ministries in Together for Tomorrow\, a shared legacy campaign that makes FreeWill available to our members across the UCC. Our primary goal is to encourage legacy planning and help UCC members\, pastors\, and churches secure long-term financial stability for their congregations. \nFreeWill is a no-cost\, easy to use tool that allows you to create or update your will in minutes. It also allows you to leave one or more planned gifts to the UCC initiatives you care about\, including National Ministries\, your local church or conference\, Ministerial Assistance like The Christmas Forever Fund\, and any other nonprofits. \nThe session will be led by Clayton Chamberlain\, Partner Success Strategy Lead at FreeWill\, and will include an overview of the FreeWill platform (including the Smart Giving Suite)\, the importance of planned giving and legacy giving\, how to roll out FreeWill within your church community\, and resources available to you.

But our Church records are more than just words on dusty paper; they are windows into the past that illuminate the history of a community and convey the mission of the church. Church records span the entire history of your church\, and no matter the age\, are important to be preserved. But knowing what to preserve can be daunting work\, especially if those with institutional knowledge have moved on. Join the Congregational Library & Archives’ archivists Billy McCarthy and Zachary Bodnar for a program focused on the first tangible steps a church can take to begin organizing their existing records and ensuring the long-term preservation of the records they produce today.
