Ralph Datema


Ralph Datema has been an ordained UCC Clergy since 1970 and has had his Standing in the RMC since 1982.  He is a Diplomate with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in Colorado, and is a Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.  He  continues a private practice as a therapist, and has served numerous churches in the conference as an interim pastor, served one UCC Church as solo pastor, and one Disciples of Christ Church as a solo pastor.  He recently completed a two year contract with the local Disciples region as their Interim Regional Minister.  Dr. Datema is available for pulpit supply as well as teaching/facilitating courses, workshops and conferences in coaching and “visioning with the brain in mind”.

I was ordained in 1961 in the UCC at Pelican Rapids, MN and served churches in Minnesota from 1961-1968. I served as Minister & Teacher, Sayles Memorial Church – UCC (Now Chapel Street Congregational Church) in Lincoln, Rhode Island 1961-1968. I also served as Coordinator, Chaplaincy Services, Meritcare Medical Center (now Sanford) in -Fargo, ND from 1977-1994. We had a staff of ten. Also served as Pastor, Oak Mound UCC, Moorhead, MN during that time from 1977-1987. I was also an instructor, Charis Ecumenical Center, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and offered graduate courses for clergy and was a satellite faculty member of Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN.

Recently retired after 23 years as pastor at Christ Congregational, I am available for pulpit supply in the general metro area or Colorado Springs. I was ordained in 1964 and have served churches in Iowa and Kansas before serving Christ Congregational (UCC) in southwest Denver for 24 years. I have been active in the Metro Association and the Conference, holding numerous positions of leadership. My interest is preaching and worship leadership, with a particular interest in defining what is a "progressive" application of the Gospel.

Rev. Maria Hoaglund is an author, long time U.C.C. Minister, spiritual counselor, and end-of-life coach who honors the body-mind-spirit holistic approach. She grew up in Japan, daughter of Lutheran missionaries so has always had an ecumenical approach. Since doing hospice work for many years, she has become more open in interested in many faith traditions and what we can learn from them. Maria has recently moved to the Boulder/Denver area and is interested in sharing her perspective with churches in the Rocky Mountain Conference. Her favorite (sermon) topics are: "Making Friends with the last adventure of life," and Imagining World Peace through invoking Peace Prayers from around the world. Her vision is to take her message to "the marketplace" and help Americans overcome the fear of death - simply the biggest change we go through as humans! - once and for all. I graduated from Iliff with my M.Div. in June, 2013. I am In Discernment with the Metro Denver Association and a long time member of Community UCC, Boulder. I have preached in various UCC and UMC churches and enjoy meeting the people of the wide variety of churches that are furthering God's mission in this area. I earned my Masters in Divinity and Graduate Certificate in Human Rights at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. While I am a UCC Member in Discernment with Plymouth Congregational UCC in Fort Collins, I have intentionally interned and preached at UMC, Episcopal, and UCC congregations. I am a Bachelor of Arts in French Language graduate of Grinnell College where I became involved in the National Setting of the UCC. I served on the last biennium of Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM) and am a member and former chairperson of the Council for Youth and Young Adult Ministries (CYYAM). I love to preach in ways that are authentic to each context I visit, and I am dedicated to preaching from the lectionary.

He is also a professional pastoral counselor and has an energetic, entertaining, and personal style in serving our churches. Cal is ordained and has been a pastor in several different RMC churches.


He currently lives in Thornton, Colorado. His background and talents include being an elementary and middle school teacher, a professional musician (saxophone, drums), a public school administrator, psychologist for public schools and mental health centers, a family counselor in private practice, a college psychological researcher, a daily radio talk-show host, contemporary worship leader, and new church start pastor. I am a relatively new pastor in the United Church of Christ, recently arrived from the Houston Association of the South Central Conference.  I was the pastor at Friedens UCC in Beasley, TX for three years prior to my move.  In addition to my time at Friedens, I have preached at First Congregational Church of Houston, St. Peter’s UCC of Houston, and Plymouth UCC in Spring, TX.  Currently, I am a doctoral student in religion at the Joint Program of DU-Iliff School of Theology.  My concentration is Theology and Philosophy.  I am open to traveling anywhere in the front range and would very much like to get out and meet more people in the Rocky Mountain Conference through a wonderful worship experience.

I served as an Associate Minister in Pittsburgh, PA and finished my career pastoring the First United Presbyterian Church in Loveland, CO. I reside in Fort Collins and am a member of the Plains and Peaks, Presbytery.

The Rev. Dr. John T Norris is now a retired minister with the Metro Denver Association. First ordained by the UCC in 1977, he has served churches in Northern California (3), Colorado (1) and Hawaii (6) as well as being Executive Director of the Hawaii Council of Church and once under appointment by the Episcopal Bishop of Hawaii as Chaplain of the Episcopal Priory School of Girls, a K-12 school in Honolulu.

He also has ridden a motorcycle on three continents, spent 5 years in Africa, and ran a program for prostitutes out of a church parsonage.

Elizabeth Robinson earned an Mdiv and an MA in ethics from Pacific School of Religion. Robinson has served as an interim chaplain at the University of Oklahoma, has completed one unit of clinical pastoral education, and has worked with disabled and autistic people and inner-city communities. She also has an MFA in creative writing from Brown University and is a widely published poet (and a recent finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award for poetry).
