Join Columbine United Church’s Mission Trip to Nicaragua!

The members of Columbine United Church will head to Nicaragua the week of January 14–28, 2017 for their exciting Mission/Work Trip: If you’re interested in joining them, there’s room for four more participants!

CUC’s Water Mission Committee works with the El Porvenir nonprofit on projects to improve sanitation and reforestation, and to bring safe drinking water to the people of Nicaragua. El Porvenir has been working for more than 20 years to improve the health and lives of rural Nicaraguans in a country that is the second-poorest in the Western hemisphere.

Mission Trip participants will work with Nicaraguans to build laundry/shower stations, erect simple hand-driven pumps on new wells, assemble energy-efficient cook stoves with stacks that take unhealthy smoke out of homes, and build new environmentally friendly latrines in small villages and schools. El Porvenir will provide hygiene education, a watershed restoration project, and reforestation efforts.

The trip’s fee is $1,175, which covers lodging, meals, and transportation in Nicaragua, as well as the $650–$700 for round-trip airfare from Denver to Managua. Participants will plan fundraisers to help offset the cost. For more details and to sign up, contact CUC trip coordinator Bretha Mahe at bewellnow@msn.com or 303-798-4556.
