UPDATE REGARDING THE RMC CLERGY/PARTNER RETREAT FOR 2012

St. Malo’s Conference and Retreat Center in Allenspark had a fire this past Monday morning.  Damage caused was extensive, especially to the conference and dining areas.  While the wings that house the bedrooms were not in the area that burned, the smoke and water damage will render them unfit for use in the foreseeable future.

The Rocky Mountain Conference’s Clergy/Partner Retreat had been booked at St. Malo’s and we on the planning committee were excited about this opportunity to gather at such a beautiful site in such awesome surroundings.  After talking to people at the Retreat Center and having discussion among our committee members, we feel the best course for us now is to cancel our 2012 Retreat.   The time needed to research other Conference Centers, figure out new finances, and find a Center that would be amenable to our retreat in April on rather short notice would put a strain on all of our schedules, especially with the holidays approaching.

We will regroup after the Christmas holiday season and begin work on a 2013 retreat location as well as a topic and theme.  We know you join us in sending sympathies to the staff at St. Malo’s as they struggle with this unfortunate event and make decisions regarding the future of the Retreat Center.

We wish you all joy, peace, and love during the upcoming holidays, and look forward to the next time we are able to gather together.

Watch our thermometer climb!

Three months after announcing the campaign to raise $500,000 for a permanent Conference Office, the outlook is positive. More than $354,300 has been pledged by conference churches and individuals, and the hard-working task force has verbal assurances of even more to come.

Make your pledge now (one-time or over a three-year period) by clicking the
