Archway Housing, RMC in National CHHSM News

Yesterday, the UCC’s Council for Health & Human Services Ministries (CHHSM) published a wonderful story on Archway Housing & Services, a Denver-area affordable-housing organization affiliated with (and founded within) the RMCUCC. Read the full story here.

In the article, writer Barb Powell discusses Archway’s mission of providing affordable housing in addition to programs and services designed to empower homeless citizens to get back on track and take control of their lives.

“Archway offers ongoing on-site services… including after-school and summer programming for all children aged 6-18 that focuses on educational, healthy living, recreational, and cultural activities; and adult services such as resume writing assistance, computer literacy, ESL, exercise and gardening, and an on-site food bank.” – Rev. Sue Artt, RMC Conference Minister

In the article, you’ll encounter some familiar faces including RMC Conference Minister Rev. Sue Artt, Archway Founder and RMC leader Rev. Robb Lapp, and Archway Housing’s Executive Director, Joyce Alms-Ransford.

Ms. Alms-Ransford names the problem directly, and states their mission head-on: “A typical number of homeless persons in Colorado every night is around 10,000. It is a growing, fundamental cultural issue. This is why Archway makes the commitment to provide services to retain people in our housing.”
