Annual Meeting

Resolutions

We the members of the Utah Association call on the Delegates to the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Conference UCC to pass the following resolution and take the action described in it to support our shared goal of Church Growth within the Rocky Mountain Conference.
Recommended Unanimously in Provo UT, October 31, 2009

A Resolution Calling on Conference Delegates to Take Action to Support Church Growth:
Whereas most resolutions passed at the Conference Annual Meeting call on other persons to act, we have a commitment as Christians to make real the redeemed and transformed realm of the Creator God on the earth and
Whereas we as Christians are called to be persons of both the Great Commandment to love one another and the Great Commission to share with the world the Gospel of Christ that God is real, God is still speaking and new life is available to any and all persons who welcome Christ into their lives and
Whereas a mature Christian life involves inviting others to join us in the transformed life of communion with the Still Speaking God, and
Whereas we the delegates to the Rocky Mountain Conference Annual Meeting have benefitted from our shared life as a Conference of the United Church of Christ and
Whereas we the delegates have a moral and ethical obligation to contribute our ideas, enthusiasm and creativity to the long term growth and success of the Rocky Mountain Conference and
Whereas we believe that creating accountability for ourselves is important in encouraging us to keep our commitments to one another and
Whereas our shared commitment to growth in the Conference requires a personal covenant and action from each of us to be realized and to sustain the conference into the future and
Whereas our greatest fear is not that we are weak and powerless or that our faith is insufficient but that we are powerful beyond imagining and our faith is more than strong enough to change the world for the better, we proclaim that it is through the combined force of our individual actions that meaningful change occurs in our local congregations, our associations and our conference, and
Whereas the Conference set a long term goal of 5% attendance growth each year for 10 years
Be it resolved that

We accept and embrace this resolution in the name of the Still Speaking God, of Christ the Redeeming Savior and of the Holy Spirit.  We celebrate the opportunity to share our transforming faith with the world.
